Candle Care

Use these tips to fully enjoy your Olfaction Lab candle and keep its aesthetic intact.  We recommend that you follow the safety instructions and always keep your candle under surveillance.

Master the First Burn

Candles have a wax memory. The first time you light your candle, allow it to burn until the melted wax pool reaches all the way to the edges of the container. This usually takes about 1 to 3 hours. If you blow it out too early, the candle will only melt to that smaller diameter on subsequent burns, causing it to "tunnel" down the middle.

As a standard practice, it’s best to burn a new candle for around 1-3 hours before extinguishing the flame. So don’t start new candles when you don’t have time to enjoy them!

BURNING TIPS

An even candle burn will enhance the fragrance and prolong its longevity. Before lighting the candle, trim your wick to ¼” to ensure a safer and smaller flame.

Always place a burning candle on a heat-resistance surface.

Burn within sight.

Never leave a burning candle unattended or within reach of pets or young children.

The vessel will be hot after burning, so allow wax to cool completely before handling.

Never let your candle burn all the way to the bottom. Always leave at least ½ inch of wax to prevent overheating the container, which can cause breakage or fire hazards.
